I've read some of the posting about Whizzer WC-1 beginnings. First of all, Thank you Whizzer USA! If it wasn't for the WC-1 we wouldn't have the NE.
I have the 98,and 99's. Parts are getting harder to find, kinda like the vintage whizzer.
I'm gonna spend some time with the wc-1 cylinder, what I do with them. This isn't for everyone, most folks can't handle the modification.
Any and all feed back welcomed.

Looking forward to your insight Ray. I just got one of the first NE5 bikes built in october of 2004. I call it a 2004 but as "model years" go, it guess it is a 2005. Thanks for your input.

Your NE is a 04
You didn't get the right information. Let me give it to you. When the Whizzer Dealers got the First NE's like yours. They came with the 26mm carburetor, it didn't take long for them to see it had way to much power. So they went with the 22mm carb like wrenches whizzer, yours is first, his is second. Yours is more valuable.
You just need to find the Top end like this one. There from 2004. The one to the left is 22mm, to the right is the 26mm. Look at the intake port. Also take a look at the Whizzer Brochure, pictures show 26mm carbs!

Since my bike was mentioned. I've had her since 2006 but the ID tag says 2005

I've been running a Westman Cyl since 2010 and now shes got over 40K miles on her (y)

She has stock valves, a 22mm carb and I'm currently using an Ambassador shaved head - since 2017

Yeah, the spedo needle stopped working around 38K miles, But the Odometer still works
Lucky for me I took some pics of my speeds before the needle stopped working

Normal cruising speed for me is 40 - 45 mph and top speed is 50+mph

I'm not a Whizzer collector, I'm a Whizzer Rider.
She's always already for a 100 mile ride (y)
PIcs of Hwy 98 in the SoCal desert, because that's where she turned 40K miles

I love to take my Whizzer with me on RV trips

I'd love to ride with you someday. You might have to wait up though, I gear my bikes to try to stay legal here, well except green bean, she has gears.

Ok then... it is a 2004 after all. I just assumed since you never hear much about anyone saying they have a "2004" NE5.... only 2005. I have not had any of the engine apart since I just got it two weeks ago. I have been trying to get the slip clutch adjusted properly so I can stop and keep the engine running. I adjusted the cable yesterday and had it close, but after it warmed up, it still stalls when stopped. I also notice that is seems to slip more now at take off then when it was tighter. I am learning and enjoying the "ride"...and thanks to you Wizzards !!

Have you put on a new AX front belt?

The first time I saw the pics of your bike I knew it was a NE-5
It's common for bike manufactures to make next years bikes at the end of the previous year.

You should take off the R/H side cover and check the Valve Lifters

On the early NE-5 Taiwan used the lifters that were for the WC-1
Taiwan was always trying to save a $ with their stinking thinking
Apparently Taiwan softened the WC-1 lifters so they wouldn't damage the NE-5 cam,
What happens is the bottom of the lifter that comes in contact with the cam lobe starts to mushroom and metal fragments can break off and damage your engine
Whizzer USA offered hardened lifters (under warranty) to those who got the soft lifters and later offered a wide bottom lifter that makes much better contact to the NE-5 cam lobes. But ya had to buy those, The 06 and later models had wide bottom lifters.

Wide Bottom lifters are commonly called "Mushroom Lifters" not to be confused with a lifter that is mushrooming from wear

Having a soft lifter the valve lash has to be constantly adjusted, also the bottom of the lifters mushroom and metal fragments can break off and damage your engine .

I don't know where to find any (Mushroom Lifters) wide bottom lifters anymore
But Whizzer Paul will have the regular hardened lifters for the NE-5.

My 2005 NE-5 came with the soft lifters. I was having to adjust my valve lash alot when I discovered the lifters bottoms were mushrooming Lucky I caught mine in time before it caused any damage.
Whizzer USA gave me the hardened lifters under my warranty, but I later bought 2 sets of wide bottom lifters.
I still run the same set of "Mushroom Lifters" today

Many people have had this soft lifter issue with their 2005 NE-5, So your gonna need to check your lifters

I'm sure if some of my facts are off Ray will correct me

Ray is always teasing me by showing pics of hard to find parts

@Risk Man Since you might take out the Cam. When reinstalling your Cam line up the Cam timing dot one tooth counter clockwise.
Whizzer USA had the timing dot on the cam stamped one tooth retarded on purpose so they could prove their engine was made to only have 1.95 HP and be able to sell the bike in the USA as a M/B and not as a M/C.
Whizzer told customers to advance the came one tooth counter clockwise for more power
So we all know with a few turns of a wrench the 2005-2007 NE-5 with the 22mm carb has 4.5 Hp

Having one of those Early NE-5 Cyls Ray showed for the 26mm carb is rare and almost impossible to find.
These days a 2005-2007 NE-5 cyl is almost impossible to find But some NE-5 Cyls and engines from 2005-2007 still show up on E Bay

Sadly after 2007 Taiwan with their stinking thinking started to change the valve seat design on the Cyl
If were lucky Ray will go into his stash of parts and show us the different cyls with the different valve seat designs

Once again if some of my info is off Ray is sure to correct me

@Risk Man
BTW Whizzer USA recommended setting the valve lash @ IN .009" - EX .009"

But most set the valve lash @ IN .006" - EX .008"

While some like to set the valve lash tighter I don't think it's necessary.

If ya need help finding TDC on the compression stroke to set the valve lash just ask.
