Daily Driver

Yeti knows, that upon request, I will delete anything on his thread that he feels he doesn't want there...lol...That goes for anyones thread, however i have had most tell me they like the humour etc on their threads as it breaks things up a bit for them...A very few have made it clear they don't want anything but what they created the thread for in the first place and any and all off topic anything is immediately deleted when its found on their threads...lol.
These days we need a little laughter

If every thread owner deleted all the off topic humour, Karl wouldn't have any posts left 🤣🤣 .....love ya Karl
Aye, I swear I got one or two post out there with some info on them. I think one is confirming the wheels on the bus do indeed go round, and the other confirms that Mary really did have a little lamb, until dinner time that is.

I'm doing a more advanced build, not stock. Expansion pipe, HD wheels, disk brake, suspension. Gonna spend about $1000 in parts. Expecting about 20-30 hrs to get it done.. Does $600 for labor sound fair? How much do you guys charge?

I would charge a minimum of $1500 in labor for 30 hours, but I machine stuff at those prices. Depending on how complex your build, it could be a fair price. If it's just a port job and slap it on the bike single speed, little more than half that would seem more reasonable to me. If it really is 30 hours of work, $600 is a steal.

If it was me id charge closer to 800-1000$ for the actual 30hrs. (that's 26-33$ an hour) Usually, shop charges for motorcycles are around 100$ an hour (i know for the small engine shop i work at labor is 110$ an hour with 1/2hr minimum)

Personally, get better gaskets, the ones that come on the china specials suck ASS and WILL leave you stranded due to an air leak. I know a Toyota O2 sensor works for the exhaust and I've got my own gasket kit i sell for 15$ shipped (cough cough ;) ) or make your own with Wrenches tutorial.

Also, go to a hardware store and get better bolts and Loctite, if he's spending 2k+ on a motorized bike he's gonna want that thing spotless and no issues after 10 miles.

If your customer don't mind paying $3K for a M/B then charge him more and you'll make more$

Just be honest and say I charge $30 per hr and I figure it's gonna take 20 to 30 hours to build this bike
Custom builds are like that there is the unknown factor to consider
So you'll make $600 to $900 depending how long it takes

Or you can say that you need a $2k budget to build his bike and hopefully you'll come in under budget.
and of course when your done you'll just make the budget LOL

R&D cost money too.

A rich youngster who I used to work with, I overheard him say "...if you want the good -hit you have to pay for it".
