If you want to make it more universal and cheaper (less steel) you could add some 1/4" flat stock. It'll have a similar affect to the previous red, just removes the need for tire clearance and sizing (shown in red)

Honestly, I might not be a concern now, but I can almost guarantee it'll fatigue that bolt and possibly snap it after a while.

I hear all these concerns and take them very seriously, I have had an idea for a mount that WILL secure this unit with these brake systems and other upper fork mounted.
I have put a lot of thought into it and I am seeing the feedback indicating more is needed.

I'm waiting for this prototype rear setup you are dreaming up & hopefully you will do it in a 78mm clutch version. Cause that opens up alot of possibilities for you. I will be a Guinea pig on the first 78mm clutch rear drive unit.
 
I was in the shop for a bit today looking at different ideas and how to introduce these Zenoah engine on the rear.

I hit 30mph yesterday no problems with a 25cc engine.

But I hear ya on the bigger 78mm clutch engines.

Essentially using a Stanton roller, and clutch bell you could make a frame to accommodate an engine.

I use 1/8 3033 aluminium on my frames and get no flex since these zenoah engines weigh nothing. Cross bolt mounting to secure side load.

1/4 would be needed for the weight of the 35cc-50cc 4 strokes. As well as for accommodating the support bearings on the shaft...

Spent some time out in the shop today and came up with a few things.

1. The first version of the REAR Zenoah frame series is here! I know some of you have been very patient 😄.

I also know some of you want bigger engines, but I am starting something new, small and light that can really perform!

Another reason, and mainly is trying to create a simple kit, the lack of a centrifugal clutch makes this a very easy to work on and user friendly system, every single person (except my partner, her hands are too small for the clutch lever) have no problem adjusting and figuring out the clutch operation. With the right set up, not much spring pressure is actually needed to create correct tire deflection.

And as always, the centrifugal clutch kit for Zenoah motors is an option, simply bolts on, and has a pretty big aftermarket parts system. The CC kit uses a total of 3 bearings.

I was surprised that more direct drive kits besides some solex stuff hasn't been direct drive. Then I realized no one really makes a commercial engine with a mountable application for a direct drive function , except the tried and tried Zenoah engine series. which have maintained a simple engine design, with game changing innovation in port design, power out put, etc. Some of these are hitting 3.5 hp stock and there are mods for everything, pistons, crank shafts, fly wheel, jugs, etc. They even make water cooled versions if some want to get fancy.

These machines are truly on of a kind and have decades of commitment on behalf of Zenoah. The aftermarket is considerably huge!

Obviously a prototype, I will trim the mounts reach (3/8 thread all) back about 3/4 of an inch. Similar to the Stanton mount, coming in at a total width inside of 5.5 inchs.

I need to pick up 2-2 inch bolts tomorrow as I didnt have any on hand, these complete the bracket mounting by securing it from behind aswell.

The nice thing about this mount is the ability to level the engine kit better, as there is room for that adjustment.

I'm still following this. I get excited to see people making stuff. Kick arse friend, Kick arse real hard!! Loving it!!
 
If you make it a clamp on to the rear triangle it will fit both fixed frame and suspension bikes. You can also incorporate
a scissor lift pretty easily to raise the power unit. Have pics if you need them.
 
Heres a pic of a clamp on build using a 97cc Lifan. Has a scissor lift which made lifting the 20lb engine a breeze. Would lift your unit with one finger. This bike ultimately ran a roller close to 3” and would hit around 45.
