My cruiser build with a cheap 66 engine and a recently purchased Bofeng carb with the stock 70 mm jet, has had serious 4 stroking since I completed it a month ago. I have about 100 "chugging" miles on it. So today, I decided to work through the various jets and went to a 65. It was better but still pretty choppy. On the third try, I went all the way down to 55 and it is much better but still chugging at low throttle and points along the range. Last resort is the 50 (the smallest that came in the jet kit on this thread) and I will see how it is.
I guess my question is I would have thought the jet sizes would have made a more profound performance difference. Lastly is it common for the air filter to be pretty saturated with fuel (at the lower part of the sponge) when removed?
As you all know, I am a total clueless mechanic with respect to these two stroke engines still. Only my second one and the first one ran pretty darn good out of the box and break in so I did not need to do anything else with it.
