So.... long story shortened, my first bike came with a two stoke already installed. I ran it for several THOUSAND miles before a minor spill left the motor dead. I replaced it with a 4 stroke... which turned out to be a nightmare of constant issues. (It was a houshang titan.) I had to put a better, heavy duty clutch on it, and a sealed clutch case which the original did not have. (It was some home made bit of tin over it, let in all manner of road gunk.) Ran it for one year before it started getting issues. I adjusted, tweaked, cleaned, replaced assorted parts including the carb.
And it simply WILL NOT start. It's sat now for a few years.

I'm giving up on it. I cannot figure out what went wrong, perhaps once I get it off I MIGHT find a mechanic willing to help diagnose what happened so I can know what to look for next time.... But as for me fixing this? It's just not happening.

Meanwhile.... please put in your best suggestions for what brand to replace it with? Please post, and explain why too.

And heads up, please DO NOT suggest anything that only bikeberry sells. I had a very bad experience with them and do not plan on every buying from them again.

A lot of it depends on what you're wanting power wise. The Honda engines are very good. My Robin Subaru is 12 years old and has 4450 hours of use on it. If you figure a 15 mph average speed that's 66,750 miles. I did replace the non-adjustable carburetor for an adjustable one. Other than that all I've ever replaced is the spark plug and fuel filter, I contribute the longevity of the engine to consistent routine maintenance and being in an efficient drive ratio.

Ok, sadly a newer photo was on my old computer, failed HD so it's gone. This is a much older photo of my bike back when it still had the two stroke. Again there is a basic bike 4 stroke motor on it now.

And a photo I just pulled off the internet of a motor that looks very much like the one I have on it that needs replacing.

So like that. Was suppose to be 50 cc.

Do you plan to use it for an in frame or rear rack application? Weed eater type mounted motors don't work so well for in frame mounting. Upright motors with bottom mount possibilities work better for in frame applications.

if you are wanting a close replacement Honda GXH50 is gonna be your ticket, basically, it'll be a much better motor than the haustang you have on there.

if you want something more custom you could go with the Harbor freight 79cc predator motor, it'll be about the same performance but the 5/8 shaft allows for more heavy-duty components than 50cc counter parts.

To use the GXH50 for in frame application isn't a clutch adapter needed for our 76mm clutches? If so that should be pointed out. It makes the setup wider and maybe other issues.

That honda one looks nice. Looks like it's got a small gas tank on top, that won't fit in the frame. Probably could remove it and just run my gas line down there????

Darwin is that honda motor larger than the chinese 4 stroke I have on there? Already had to put wider pedals on the bike for that.
Clearly I need to take a more updated photo of the bike as it is now. If it ever stops raining here Ill do that. I KNOW I barely have room in that frame for the cheap chinese motor to fit. So likely anything larger than the off the shelf made in china junk won't fit.

Just looking online real quick, this looks interesting. Seems to be more powerful than what I had, and smaller. Thoughts?
