i was recently loaned a whizzer wc-1 for basic transportation needs, all it required was cleaning the bad gas (ethanol) out of the carb, and i rebuilt the petcock valve too as it seemed due for servicing as well.

something that has been irking me though is the drive belt for this thing. as most probably know this bike uses a friction clutch to disengage the motor from the drive train. so doing some searching i read i was suppose to use an AX29 gates belt as replacement, but that belt is way too big, so i'm a bit confused at this point 🤔

unfortunately i dont have any literature (service manuals) related to the bike so i don't have much to go off of. it looks like (see pictures below please) that somebody not my friend who loaned me the bike fabricated some form of a tensioner for the drive belt so im even a little more confused. thoughts & suggestions would greatly be appreciated i hope this info / pictures can help future and others who come here from internet searches.

i'll post some pictures below to better illustrate what it is im trying to explain.

@Wrench is our resident whizzer guru, I'm wondering if you are missing something for the slipper clutch. I'm unsure but I was looking at pics on the ole interweb. They are not configured like that from the pics I've seen. Wrench might help you out & point you in correct way.

My guess is the tensioner goes to the bottom and it has been discussed on the forum... Someone with chime in about it...

The spring on the clutch arm is what tensions the belts. An extra belt tensioner shouldn't be needed.

To make the Front belt tighter slide the engine forward.
By sliding the engine forward it makes the rear belt pull on the front belt
The spring on the clutch arm tensions both belts

Unless ya got one of the few oddball clutch arms that were made, somewhere between 1999-2004
You'll never be able to tension the front belt properly without an extra belt tensioner.
The clutch arm mounting bolt hole spacing should be 2 1/2" if it's bigger you got one of the oddball clutch arms

Make sure you say it's for a WC-1 Manual Clutch.

Some say to try different brands of belts because there is a slight difference in the length caused by the notches of an AX belt

The manual clutch came from the factory with this type of belt

In your pics I don't see the clutch arm spring
It looks like this and attaches to the frame where ya see it in the pic

The Double Wiz

Gas tank has Double Wiz painted to look like Double Mint gum

Also has a rare 3 speed Abalon transmission
I've seen that same bike run b4, it's cool, on his latest youtube, he talked about how each engine was timed, its timed where as 1 engine gets to the end of its power stroke the other engine is just starting its powerstroke.
