Hello,I wanted to see if anyone can confirm this disc brake adapter would work with this bike before I buy both. Also, would you recommend a 36 or 28T sprocket? Is it worth it to get an upgraded carb or use the standard NT? Thanks guys

We have one member, @yuckfoo, who went through hell and high water trying to adapt a motor kit to a Mongoose multi-speed bike a while back...Many, Many, months of failure and many dollars later until he finally succeeded, and he is very mechanically inclined...He has not been on the forums for a while now though, so hope all is still going well with him and his Mongoose...lol.

This was his finished product video once he finally got it together and worked out the bugs on it....It would not surprise me if he has a couple of thousand into this after all the hassle and heartache it also cost him to build this.

Thanks for the response. I am thinking I will try another bike.. do you remember what issues he ran into? Other than the disc brake it looks pretty standard to me.

I already provided the link for you in my reply post to you for all of his posts on the Mongoose...It's ten pages long...lol.

For some reason it is saying page not found. Is there another way I can find it?

Just start here then.

Here is that link again, works fine for me here.

Hey Jferdi. I built a Mongoose Dolomite with a shift kit, so I didn't have any disc brake problem. The problems I had were the need to file metal off the case to fit it in the triangle and I had to make a custom exhaust end motor mount and some spacers for the shift kit. None of it was really difficult, but it was time consuming because I never did this before, and I had to come up with my own solutions. I also built it in my kitchen with not a whole lot of tools at my disposal. I'd say that if you can weld and fabricate your own parts you can put a motor on anything. But the fewer tools and machines you have at your disposal the more difficult it can be.

I have a shoulder injury at the moment, so I haven't been riding and haven't been posting here recently. I'll keep this tab open for awhile. If there are any questions you have, I'll see if I can answer them. As I said though, this was my first and only build. There are many more here who have more expertise than I do. This is a great site. Lots of collected knowledge. This is definitely the place to be to ask questions and knock around ideas.
