Lots of different folks here from all parts of the world riding motorized bicycles. The intended uses are as different as the people riding these things. When I first learned of bicycles with engines I didn't understand the concept. I was like...if you want two wheels powered by an engine just get a scooter or motorcycle. ....something with a little more substance under your butt putting you out on the road with cars and trucks.
Then I helped a guy in my area get his motorized bicycle road worthy. I used to see him broke down and pushing it home every week. From the hands on with his bike the idea infected my brain. This idea led me here where I learned a lot in a short time. Now the bike consumes a lot of my spare time.

The guy I helped uses his bike as his primary transportation.

I use mine strictly as an amusement toy to ride around....the thrill...of victory....not readily looking for that agony of defeat. :)

I never ride mine in rain or adverse weather conditions and only travel roads that are favorable for my non-suspension, 26" Schwinn cruiser.

No matter what the reason for riding a motorized bike, It's all awesome...It's really cool to see all the different configurations and the how & why people use motorized bicycles.

What is your main reason for riding a motorized bicycle?

I use mine for not only pleasurable cruising, but also built it to be functionally useful such as some shopping etc, hence the reason for the rear baskets...Also, living in the high deserts of New Mexico that has very little inclement weather, I ride it as my primary transportation, much cheaper to run and maintain than a car.

I started simply cause I got bored with 10 mile rides, liked building stuff, and had more time than money.

Now, its utility and fun. So far last few days, maybe 20mi on my motorized bike mail runs and checking out local 4th activities, at least 10 or so on my e-fatbike killing time in city, and running parking lots, even some parking lot runs w/ a pedal bike.

And, since my tadpole is mothballed for now, I'm eyeing taking my wife's tadpole etrike out for some field riding muhuaaa!

I do joy ride some but have a pull behind trailer for hauling purposes. Though there had been a few before me who'd used a triple chainring shift kit the one handed color coded non-redundant sequential shifting system is my creation.

Therefore I enjoy having a build that's unique and nobody else has a bike like mine.

Run errands around the shop, or pit bike at the track. I live just over 8 miles and rode them to/from work a couple times, but it's not the most comfortable way to commute lol.
My back don't like bending or bumping. Both bikes have suspension seatpost, one hardtail one fat tire, its the most cushy.
Parallogram suspension seatpost does NOT kick a** and thats good with me.

Honestly I'd rather ride than drive my truck, its like riding in a steel wheel wagon. Even better, I can stand up and stretch.

But no AC and its HOT today. I went to mailbox (its a third mi away, rutted, big valley in middle), enough for me, ain't going back out riding today waaa. It'd been hotter taking the truck unless I burned enough gas to run my bike a month.

Always wanted to build one.. when i lost the ability to drive temporarily (hopefully be back on the road soon) I needed a way into town for groceries meds etc. Perfect opportunity to build one so I did.

I enjoy it so much I think I will always use it for random small grocery pickups and stuff after my license is reinstated and it'll be a hobby for life. And, I'll be able to play around with it a little more since I won't be relying on it for necessities.
