How long can "China doll" hold at WOT? Also, high altitude (+gear reductions and "too lean?")

She's now becoming very rich. The power pulses were so severe that I had to pull over and move the C-clip to the second-leanest groove. It's still pulsing a little, still popping and all. I think I will need a smaller jet soon.

Just try to ride it the way it is right now for awhile, the rings will seat and it will get better. Then look into jets.

One leaner, actually (even more "lol", lol). WTF "polished intake"; you'd expected better from a 2000-year-old civilization. Damn Mao.
China has the longest continuous history of any country in the world—3,500 years of written history. And even 3,500 years ago China’s civilization was old!

I finally got the tach installed and not too soon. Gained a good finger of knowledge, too. I clocked 7600 rpm at 33 mph or faster uphill, no lugging, WOT, and a little four-stroking on top. No undue vibrations; they must have got lucky with the balancing.

(...uphill, uphill, uphill)

Yes, uphill, which means the engine got HOT, around 350F. As soon as I pulled the clutch, she ran away! I killed the fuel, tried to cover the carb (didn't occur to me to choke it). She was starting to smoke, very scary! It only stopped when I accidentally popped the clutch lol.

350 is hot but it's not quite danger zone in terms of cylinder/head temps. My Phantom can get that hot pushing it on level ground lol. Hopefully you being a bit rich still saved you from a melted piston none the less.

That and me acting fast not wanting my piston to melt lol. My peak was recorded at 399F and 7863 RPM. It seems like it keeps wanting to run away when I pull the clutch. I just reengage to stop it. Not too sure or high idle (I keep lowering the screw) because I won't let it run away again lol.

What is the danger zone?

PS. That last post was my 100th and the trophy I got for it: "Can't Stop!" lol! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
