I'm trying to find a replacement cylinder and piston for a Silver Slant. The only thing I can find is the Zeda Firestorm cylinder and piston kit. All the spec's look the same as far as I can tell. I just can't find any replacement cylinder and piston specifically for the Silver Slant.

My Father's 80/66 Silver Slant was running fine, then made a CaChing sound and sized. Started back up 20 minutes later, barely, and had hardly any power. Guessing a ring caught a port. Was running fine, wasn't dogging it. Never soft seized or over revved. Around 250 miles on the engine. Have always run 40:1mix. Haven't pulled the cylinder yet, but plan on it tomorrow. I'll share pictures of the ghost when I find it.

Any Help Appreciated

Call them directly via telephone at 406-586-5970 in Bozeman, Montana and talk to them directly as they will know just what your asking for...If it's Molly answering the phone, that's all the better since she is their Customer Service Manager, (CSM), Last I knew recently, they are there at 7am Mountain Daylight Time, (MDT) here in the USA...DAMIEN

Ps...That is as early as 9am EDT

Make sure on the new jug and piston etc,. to run it at a 20:1 with conventional 2 cycle oil and once breakin is achieved after two tankfulls, change what your using for oil to full synthetic and run it at 32:1 ratio thereafter.

If it was always run at 40:1 as you stated, even during breakin, that would probably be the cause of the premature motor failure as well as any residual casting slag that may have not been removed from jug during assembly.

Edit:...And possibly running it too lean as well.

Yeah, I read tons of conflicting things on oil mix. I felt we were being "safe" with 40:1. Took a long time to break in and get full power. Bike had around 250 miles on it. It had just started really running strong at about 150 miles. I'll give 20:1 a try this round.

The company that is the vendor for Zeda motors and ZTmoto Phantom 85 motors and parts...lol...The only ones I know that handle them here in the USA, (they are also in partnership with Amazon.com),... https://bicycle-engines.com ....lol...Right in your own backyard, huh???...lol.

Yeah, I see people with mounted kits around, mostly the yd100.

Yeah, I called today and they answered all my questions. Seem like really good people. They also said that the Zeda Firestorm top end would be a direct fit. Awesome đź‘Ť.

Now I just need to pull the jug and see what's actually wrong.

I REALLY don't like being without my bike, lol.

I pulled the cylinder/ piston and honestly, I don't see anything catastrophic. Some smoothing of the piston, but nothing I can feel with my finger, or finger nail. Feels smooth. Same with the cylinder. Can't feel anything in there either, Feels smooth. I did have a head gasket leak. I went to take off the head bolts, and two studs came out with them. I knew right then that those acorn nuts were bottomed out. I originally thought the exhaust was leaking because the gasket blew, and instead of replacing it, I just removed it and tightened the muffler straight to the cylinder. Come to find out the muffler hasn't leaked, it was the head gasket spewing oil. My guess is that I encountered a lean situation where the motor was pulling air through the head gasket, and that's what caused it to seize. The only other troubling thing I found was that the bore on the connecting rod seemed to have been too large before they bored it. It's the same color as the rest of the connecting rod. I guess it was just a bad casting, but I don't see it lasting forever. The needle bearing appeared to look okay, but does sound like it's making noise.
