Riding the MB to the store

I bought the bike 7/21. Took about a month to outfit everything so it’s running about a year now. It seems like an eternity..not just one year.

Other than a brief stop at a connivence store early on a Sunday morning to get a couple cheap cigars …. It’s never out of my sight once I leave home…I’m yet to ride to a store and go in for more than a few seconds and let the bike get out of my sight.

I live outside the edge of a rotten city with crime and drugs so rampant I can’t bring myself to go in to like a grocery store and let the bike out of my sight fearing a low life will steal it.
I was wondering.. the ones who do errands on their bike… do you lock it to a street post or something anchored to the earth that would take more than a few minutes to separate the bike from the fixture?
Or..do you just pull up, put it on the kick stand, and go on in about your business?
I have two locks. One for the front wheel and one for the back wheel and frame. I have mag wheels and those alone with the tires are worth about $300... all n all the bike is worth about $1,200

Good ulock and a cable. Even if just going into 7/11 the ulock gets used. Cable is to just make it harder to steal.
Lock it to something anchored to the ground. Even if your n and out in a minute. It'll take a pro thief less than that to steal it if they really want it. Use kryponyte locks. Even the biggest bolt cutter can't cut half an inch of steel. Yes. Use the biggest heaviest duty locks. The 'U' type locks work great for locking back tire and frame to a street sign. They'll attract some attention from passers-bys... my bike cost over $1,200 to build. And my phatmoto fat tire was about $1,400.

Highly illegal to attach to a street sign or power poll. If you find your bike gone it may not have been a thief who took it.

You're correct in locks are the best defense. Loud alarms, cellphone notifiers, and tracking chips are great complimentary items in addition to your locks.

In florida they don't care much. And I have an F2 expansion thruster muffler from BBR tunning. It's so loud but I don't hear it. The people behind me do and I was cruising next to a Broward country sheriff going about 41mph. Gps speedometer. They have bigger fish to fry.... lol
Only time a cop ever messed with me was when I pedaling thru a red light and it was a motorcycle cop with a small brain who lit me up and we argued about the laws. He let me go when he found out he didn't know how to tell the difference between a 49cc and a 66. LoL
But yeah. Lock the bike up.

It doesn't matter if you were pedaling your bike or under engine power; all vehicles are required by law to come to a complete stop at a red light. In the state of Florida, an Idaho Stop isn't legal at STOP signs for cyclists either; you're required to come to a complete stop. A complete stop is defined as no forward momentum.

Your bikes are very recognizable; all it'll take is some police officer you've been arguing with in the past to impound it, is to see your bike secured to a street sign or power pole.
