How many have hybrid bikes?

Mid drive and engine is in my mind for some reason (electric start? lol)

Not sure why, but think it would be kinda neat to have a bike that could run on both.

Main issue would just be complexity and weight. I have thought about it though. A 500w front hub as a backup with a battery on a rear rack.

My engineer brain wants to do a generator driven electric setup. Small ICE driving a generator setup to charge a battery and have 2 batteries to switch between. Ultimate long distance build. A small rovan 35 to 45cc 2 stroke with a gear reduction driving an alternator/generator setup. Those little engines make 3 to 4hp and have a 16,500 redline with forced air cooling.

Main issue again would be weight and complexity.

I was thinking (dreaming) adding a Bafang mid drive to my bike.

I ride it everywhere, mixed on/off road, fishing spots, shop errands, pit bike etc.

Regen braking, and running on petrol? Sounds like a win.

Zizzo 20" folding bike w/BBS02 mid-drive from Luna Cycle, paired with a Staton friction drive(1.34" roller) w/Honda GX35(currently swapped out the GX35 for a GX50). Fun times!👍👍

Regen braking with a gas motor would be hard to make work properly. Unless you can adjust the amount of regen force. You might find yourself going very slow with an engine going atomic in short order. If you can turn it down you might have a more ideal balance between recharge and engine effort to maintain speed.

I like plug n play. Nice Rad bike like Wrenches then just add a front FD kit. J's setup would be perfect except setting up a proper controller and battery for a newb.
