Ring gap

I have a airsal 43.5 mm kit for a batavus m48 engine. Didn't come with any instructions. Is there some kind of way to find out the piston ring gap? I'm pretty much a amateur when it comes to this stuff.

Is it a aluminum cylinder or a cast iron cylinder, that makes a difference on ring end gap. Airsal should have specs on their website.

I'll see if I can find actual specs. But .004"-.008" would be safe on ring end gap. They also got a ring end gap calculator you can use going off of bore size & materials.

This is it I'm guessing it's aluminum. I don't see the specs on the website I emailed them weeks ago they never answered

Good rule.of thumb is bore in inches x .005". For a 43.5mm bore that would.be .0086" on the tight side. You could probably get away with .008"

Yep that's the formula
Min
43.5 / 25.4 = 1.7125984 x .005" = .008629
Max
43.5 / 25.4 = 1.725984 x .007" = .0120818

So your ring end gap specs are .008" - .012"
Min - .008"
Max - .012"

When you measure the PREG put the ring in the cyl about 1" and make it square by pushing it in with the bottom of the piston
Use a feeler gauge to measure the PREG

Thanks guys. Looks like this pretty much no gap there. My smallest gauge is 012 and it's a lot bigger.

What does your ring gap actually read or measure?

I meant to say The gap is smaller. So with my smallest gauge being 012 The feeler gauges too big to fit should I get smaller ones
