I just watched this video and thought it was quite interesting because they tried a variety of anti-theft locking devices on a motorcycle...ALL failed to prevent a determined "thief" from stealing it.

Yes, still lock it up as best you can, You will at least keep the amateur novices from stealing it, but a dedicated thief?...NO WAY...lol.

Yup... I subscribe to Bikes & Beards too. Good stuff. Also of note: Not a single person stopped and asked the guy WTF is going on. THAT SAID... I wonder if that would be the same if there wasn't an obvious camera tri-pod set up to film the guy. I mean, I figure most people who see a "thief" cutting a lock off a motorcycle in front of a "camera" ... they're not really doing anything illegal...

Pro M/C thieves are organized, The M/C their after cost $20K - $60K
Guy's just put the bike on a dolly and roll it into a box van w/lift gate, it takes a couple mins
If your bike isn't locked they will just put the bike in neutral and roll it away, it takes less than 1 min

Factory M/C alarms the lights flash and it chirps.
M/C alarms are meant to draw attention to the person messing with the bike, that's it.
If ya got low jack GPS these Pro thieves know about it too

I guess if you're going to have a bike worth that much you should invest in a garage. Then if you leave it on the street somewhere it's a gamble. Good thieves know how to steal good cars too. Used to be easy to steal a car, but technology has come a long way. Now you need more than a screwdriver. I guess motorcycles aren't that much different than they were years ago as far as security.

OH yeah my Harley is garage kept, keyless ignition FOB and alarm
I have full M/C insurance coverage,

Cars get towed away just as easy as a M/C can be
The only difference is you can see your car on the back of a tow truck unlike a M/C in a van

Can thieves just disconnect the battery and that will disable the Factory GPS tracking device ?
