Hey guys! I’m working on building up a dyno roadster stretch cruiser. I had the idea of using a front hub motor in the rear and eliminating the pedal system. It fits a coaster brake so a few spacers and it would fit into the dropouts. Basically make an electric scooter. I think it would be doable with a 1500w motor and battery to match.

I was also thinking 212cc. I want something that has power. I don’t need to go fast but sometimes you gotta hit the throttle and go.

What do you all think is the best way to go?

Are you asking what would be a better way to go? Is being legal a concern for you?

Why a front hub on the rear? Can't find a rear hub that will work?
The rear OLD is 120mm. The front hub motors are 110mm. I can’t seem to find rear hub motors that aren’t for 7 speed or larger. I’d have to stretch my frame about an inch to fit it. Plus I’d have plus I’d have to add all the components for shifting.

Legality is no issue. I know it would be illegal but I only cruise the neighborhood at about 15-20 mph.

If you want instant throttle response & power, electric is the way to go in my opinion. But I'm a gearhead & like my gassers.
I know I like the Tinkering with the gas motor and everything that comes along with them.

Honestly I’ll probably just go china girl or 212cc. It’s winter here so I have time to think my options thru.

If it's a steel frame, spreading the rear dropouts from 120 to 130 or 135mm would be a breeze. Thats about half an inch total. Then you have your pick of motors for the rear.

Yeah you could build a mild 212 predator & use a 30 series torque converter with a jackshaft setup with all the real estate that stretch cruiser has. It would have plenty of get up & get out of somebodies way power.

What are the Ben if it’s of the jackshaft vs no jackshaft? No jackshaft seems like less monkey business

Yeah I’ve thought that too. I’m not sure which way I wanna go yet. Sometimes I want electric because it’s quiet and doesn’t take gas. Sometimes I want a large gas guzzling monster that’s loud as hell! Just bouncing my ideas off of everyone.
