Build ideas

I would get the disc brake model of that hub, then it would be easier sprocket mounting. Or get a 36 spoke rear hub for a puch or tomos type moped.
Yeah those hubs just cost a lot more money. Plus spokes and nipples. It gets spendy fast. I was gonna look and see how much the shifter and hardware are for the Sturmey Archer drum. It would be cool to fab a suicide shifter like the old stingrays.

You used to be able to purchase that sturmey drum brake in a kit. It came with a shift cable & shifter, plus the hub & mounting hardware. They were like $140-$170

Actually, now that I think about it, another BB and the crank shaft would make a better jack shaft, or a regular jack shaft and bearings through the BB. It all depends on where you position the engine on the bike.
I don’t know if I understand what you’re saying. I’m a picture kinda guy. Have to see it to understand

Yeah they’re somewhere around that price. This one is cheaper but with sprocket adaptor and all the hardware it is probably close to the same as getting a different hub

This be what I'm talking bout. Does that work?

Yeah I get it. I was thinking of mounting it vertically against the seat tube.

Would jackshaft kit from like eBay work? Or would I have to fab my own?
I would try to mate it up to a freewheel and then power the other end from the engine. That way you get to avoid two chains for the most part. Still need a short one from TAV to jack shaft. Jack shafts can be Ebay, OMB, gopower or your preferred vendor, but the gears will have to be custom sized. A 212/TAV setup will pick up the front wheel, with unfavorable outcome if not careful.

On the pedal side of the jack shaft won’t I need a chain going from jackshaft to pedals. Then another chain back to wheel.

Yes, from pedals to jack shaft, and then a freewheel sprocket back to the wheel. You can run the two chain set up or run a chain off the engine to the left side of the jack shaft.

The main thing I’m wonder is why do a jackshaft. Wouldn’t a cvt be enough to start from a stop and cruise around 35mph?
