Yeah I was going to reply back to take your heat technique & add my finesse technique with the hammer & steel & he would be on his way to a engine install.

The appropriate size muffle clamp and no heating or denting is required.

I was just thinking a 1/2" round rod, hit it with a hammer.

That's more sensible. If a piece of 1/2 plate is used, he would need to grind a 1/8" bevel on each side of the plate.
