Rear Wheel Won't Free-Roll Backward

I just received and have assembled my new E-Zip Trailz Electric Bicycle.

I can't roll the bike backward - the rear wheel will not turn in reverse, or free-spin. Is this the way it's supposed to be?

Thanks!

hey was it a kit bike..something you put together yourself?

Yes, I should have been more explicit. It was a nearly fully-assembled bike. I had to assemble the handle bars (none of the cabling or other controls), and attach the seat, pedals and front wheel.

is the motor drive on the right side?

my obsolete currie is like that...motor on the right...normal gears on the left.

my motor freewheels when am not on the throttle or coasting. It does have some resistanse when I roll It backwards.

good topic...thx fer the post:)

Hello again, srdavo! No, my bike has the motor on the left, and gears on the right.

I haven't yet dared to actually ride my new bike. I cannot lower the seat any further, and when I sit on the seat, I can only touch the ground on my tip-toes. I feel very insecure.

So, I have been pushing it around my apartment, and pushing the pedals by hand just to see if all seems well. After the last time I did that tonight, the the peddles seemed to skip a couple of times, and the chain did something, but now my back wheel WILL roll backward.

my gawd, I am stoopid!!

you are right!

when sitting on my bike...the gears are on the right & the motor is on the left.

still, my bike doesn't roll backwards freely.

Forgive me, but I got quit a kick out of this! I am so directionally challenged that I can't find the door in a round room!

My Currie as bought bike has some resistance when rolling backwards also.
