Engine bolts?

:cool:maybe the bolts(actually phillips screws) are locktited on. i had no problem removing those screws. they came out so easily that i KNOW they're gonna loosen up/fall out when i run the engine.

i've been thinking about replacing those engine bolts(phillips screws) with lock nuts and studs. anyone done this on their engine?

not sure..

I am not sure what screws or bolts you are referring to. Do you have a pic?

the ones that we wanted to unscrew in particular, were the 3 where the clutch lever is ( so the chain can be threaded), and also the 5 on the gear cover on the other side (wanted to check to see if the cogs were greased). In fact all wont budge, and he is afraid of shredding them.

He has managed to put on the chain by threading it through, but the chain is too long, so he need to buy a chain breaker.

Hopefully all them bolts will loosen when the motor is used so they can unscrew them to service the bike later on, because they wont budge.

they will,i had to thread the chain too.could,nt get the cover off without stripping the heads.needless to say i replaced all the screws with higher quality ones.had to use oil insted off grease for the cluch lever and behind the sproket.150 miles and they loosend.
