      Forks are personal preference. The springer fork does soak up smaller bumps well. It also stretches the wheelbase a bit which makes makes the bike more stable at cruising speed.

      I agree about the flexibility of these old steel frames. I can see my front forks flexing an inch on rough road. Does the springer fork really help with ride comfort? (still on the wish list).

      My old western flyer makes a nice motorbike. The mild steel frame rides comfortably and the rear dropouts hold the back wheel securely. I was very lucky when I bought this WF frame for $10.

      Being an avid motorcyclist, I had already thought that I needed a front brake ... I found myself reaching for the lever that wasn't there a couple times. I find it hard to remember to use the coaster brake!
