Rummaging through my box of tricks and found a brand new 1/4" filter... is this too small to fit inline from tank to carb?

The OEM filter is 3/16" so you may have to really force it to fit.
The answer then would be "no".

Um, yeah.... ok, really wanted to know whether anyone thought it might ne too restrictive.

At one sixteenth inch larger than the original filters inlet/outlet, the answer would be "no, it should not be too restrictive".

Sorry, thought I read somewhere that the original was larger.... but, it does fit, with a little sanding of the 'ears' on the inlet/outlet and some soap, it's as snug as.....

Thats what I use and it works just fine!
