For the 3 hp predator a 12:1 ratio works well. With a centrifugal clutch, 48:12*2 gets you 8:1, that's going to be anemic.
With a cvt we could get 8:1 in high and 24:1 in low which is more realistic, but unless gordy wants to run at redline, just to move, the cvt has to be fiddled with in a way I have only seen once. Build-break-fix/evilcarebear got one to engage at 1000-1200 rpm. He used cast steel, but lost investment lead casting is much more realistic.

It wouldn't be hard to get lead into the right shape, but it would need some sort of lathe, a wood turning lathe could do it.
There is also the option of tempering a spring or cutting a weaker one of the same width to the same length. That last option is the most realistic. There's a video on the store showing just how easy it is to swap springs.
