Hey guys, I recently got a 12 volt magneto off a friend and was wondering how i would wire in my light, there is only one red wire coming out of the magneto and when hook it up to a light and ground the negitive terminal it turns the engine off. I am really confused and hoped you could help

Cheers Fintan

The old white wire one were NOT meant for lighting and it was meant to be a pickup signal for a better CDI unit.

The reason it doesn't have a white wire is because they stopped adding in the coil.
People kept trying all sorts of ways to power accessory's from it and then wondered why it never worked n there coil was also toast.

Magneto has a hard enough time anyways with the CDI providing spark, so even if magically you found a way without a battery you would lose starting speed ability, have a high idle and lose a bunch of top end due to weak spark
