1955 trojan in the uk

ok as promised here is my restoration.
the bike is a 1955 trojan mimimotor, and the engine is fitted to a robin hood bicycle. this combination is very special for two reasons: the minimotor is a rare mk5 version and the bike it is fitted to is a very rare robin hood. for these reasons this bike will be restored to original condition. most of my restorations are just cosmetic, but this one is different.

I thought I might be a MkV from the dates on the buzzing website good luck with it and I hope the install goes well...

Incidentally I looked at the site you mentioned for tuned pipes and I have a question - can you mount a pipe downline of the stock muffler or do you have to take everything to bits? also, if I take that horribly ugly red casing off, will I need spacers for every bolt on the thing - I am looking for a more classic look and that big red lump spoils it *sigh*

haven't done much to the trojan lately to many other projects, plus getting the house ready for christmas. no the saddle isn't a brooks, it is a leatheries, made in birmigham i think. my new brakes have arived along with my new handlebars and seat. so i should be making some good progress shortly. sorry i haven't got back to you jemma, yes you need to remove the standard exhaust to fit the ones i told you about. removing the plastics also has an advantage of extra cooling though .

What a lovely Trojan attachment Your old Robin Hood bicycle is an absolute treasure too. With the old brake parts the original chrome was pretty good and on my own old English bikes I worked over the brightwork with brass wire wool and a paste type metal cleaner and polish. Mind you I like my elderly bikes to have a well maintained patina of age about them rather than have them utterly pristine.
I happen to think that stirrup brakes are absolutely brilliant and so long as they are setup properly can be as good as anything else that's around. Several of my daily riding bikes have stirrup brakes and after I spent time getting everything just so and how it should be in the brake dept I haven't had a single problem with them.
