2 stroke mineralli drive sprocket problems

This is the reason that most of us here in the forum that run mags run only the three spoke mags as they are stronger with much more surface area adhesion to the hub and the rim...I've been riding mine for over 4.5 years now and not so much as a stress crack even with the bike weighing between 80 to 100 pounds and my fat arse sitting on it at around 217 pounds...And I'm running a real torque monster motor, the Phantom 85.
I had got phantom 85 before got this minneralli phantom lasted less then 7 miles before piston snagged side of exhaust port

More than likely you had the V-2 which was known for ring snag...Those of us, like @ImpulseRocket and myself, filed down those rough edges before assembly knowing this was a known problem.

This has been eliminated as a problem in the V-3 cylinders which are now coming out very well trimmed and clean.

I bought a V-3 Phantom back in January and put over 1000 miles on it no problem.

I liked the V-3 so much I ordered a V-3 cylinder kit with piston, rings, needle bearing, wrist pin etc. and converted the V-2 to a V-3 which I am now starting the 310 breakin proceedure with...It is smooth as silk, even better than the V-2 for its smoothness even during the early breakin period.

My Phantom is still going strong after almost 3 years now on another bike that gets used 3 or 4 days a week. It has over 3k miles on it now. Only thing I had go wrong with it was the one base gasket I used blew out at the case half seam and it was replaced.

It's lived that long for several reasons. Most of it due to work I did to it before I ever ran it.
