Its with in the cooling shroud/ recoil cover. Its a little vane that pivots against the fans blower speed. Is hooked to the carb via a link rod. Governor spring pulls against a push rod from the throttle.Cant exactly remember which way the rod actuates the spring, but applying throttle eases spring tension allowing the vane to open the throttle as necessary. Similar to an air vane Briggs. This is all from ancient memory but I think its generally correct. Seems like 4k was the governed speed.
It revs til it blows, I guessing 5k is doable. Your gamble.
I took a Toro 2stroke mower engine which I believe was made by Suzuki converted it and flipped it on its side. Was a real power house. Had to add weight to the flywheel as it was a mower engine and relied on the blades weight. I believe it was around 5hp. Was one of my first conversions years back.
this is what i have now. i figured a suzuki would be better. it runs real good. can you give more detail about this engine. it has a one piece rod, and its around a 125cc. i had mine all apart
Dont know mush more than I originally stated. Was thinking it was around 140cc really dont remember, probably
25+ years ago. Seriously add some weight to the flywheel otherwise your gonna have a hurt hand if you are not careful.
They are great running super durable engines. Suzukis answer to the Lawn Boy.

mine has a cast iron flywheel. id doesnt kickback like mower without a blade i know the displacenent, because i had it apart enough to measure the bore and stroke. its a fast revving short stroke engine. i dont remember the stroke off the top pf my head. i made an intake manifold out of aluminum on the lathe to allow the engin to sit uprught. my only concern is the unit is jetted for winter, it was on a snowblower. could that be a problem. im gonna have to build a base plate, and a mount for my tav
my dad had a lawn boy mower he took the governer comlpetly off to make it move faster. it survived many hours. it died after he put straight gas in it on accident. he said the had really good engines. i didnt know they were a zuki.
No its a straight forward conversion. Have to come up withs a mount, an intake the flip the carb and what ever else it takes. As I remember the crank on the commercial version I had was 1”, clutch was more pricy. Its a sweet runner though.
