420mm chain

it might, will be a bit wider so could rub on things or if not tensioned right, could fall off skinny sprocket

BTW it is not 420mm 420 - 4/8 x 2/8 (which is 1/2inch by 1/4 inch)
 
2 digit chain is industrial & I've not looked at how they measure chain

Ah OK, I see, so there's no real direct correlation between the numbers of the chain and the actual measurements except only the pitch. I guess they draw the numbers from a hat and assign characteristics at random..
 
Sorry the chart doesn't mention the outside width, mustn't be standardised at all; but actually I think you can infer a little about plate thickness from the relative weights. :)

Apparently, yeah. Chain drive was invented in 1880 and old standards are so random. :rolleyes:
