Hello there, motorized bicycle enthusiasts, it's been a good while since I shown up around these parts;

I *tragically* own a 49cc straight shaft Huasheng engine; the clutch worn out and I can't find a place which sells a replacement; in the past people
recommended the Staton Inc clutch, but seems like the guys doesn't sell anymore clutch rotors for straight shaft engines, I can't find anymore the part on their website, does any of you know have good advices in the matter?

I considered, through a combination of commissioned laser cutting, and TIG welding performed by myself; to create a manually operated, V belt
clutch, to save a relatively new and healthy engine from the trash can.

For who's familiar with me, I've been converting my 4 stroke ride into a fully belt driven vehicle, I made quite some progress :)

I've never had experience with the 4 stoke engines, but it sounds like you have a wicked project! Could you post some pictures of the project and of the clutch you need replaced?

This is the typical clutch fitted on straight shaft 49cc 4 strokers, and lemme tell you, it's absolutely preposterous:

Shoes has the tendency to lock open, it wears down in no time too; I'm very tempted to DIY myself a V belt clutch and call it a day: KingsMotorizedBikes sells these junk clutches, I spend 50 bucks for getting one shipped to me and the damn thing had one shoe that wouldn't open, I had to cannibalize the stock clutch that I had and stick in one of the less worn and functional shoes that I had.

Imma snap some of my bike's photos tomorrow to share.

So what kind of 3 shoe clutch are you trying to get? The typical swing arm shoe or a KTM clutch like you have in the picture?
Hi Jerry; the KTM like one, or any other models that either are compatible or significantly more durable.
I considered to get a genuine KTM clutch and just swap the shoes, as they certainly will be more durable, but should anything not match with the rotor's central piece, it'd be other moolah going down the drain.

Try doing searches for a Honda GXH50

I considered it prior to getting this engine, the built would have turned far too costly for an hobby, GXH50s aren't readily available here; Zanetti Zen 130s and GX-50s would be more readily available, the Zen-130 would require a new transmission but it's a bullet proof engine and costs one third of a genuine Honda..

I did a quick research about the KTM clutch, looks like I could give it a go, if my other solution is to change engine.

What I'm saying is the Honda GXH50 has a straight shaft also. So clutches that'll fit it will also work on your engine so do a search for one of them.

Oooh! I already tried to look for them, in addiction GXH50s seems to have a conical shaft now; an homie of mine runs a gardening engine repair shop, all of the GXH50s I have seen so far had a conical shaft, except for one which had to be used on a lawnmower.

Wow I got an old Honda 50 sitting on a shelf. Hope to switch it out in the near future with the current RS 35 I use now. I hope I don't run into the same issue.
