Yup, just a little slack is good. There’s a whole process for figurin’ out what should be, for what length, an’ whatnot... But, if you roughly keep it to 1” of deflection over that distance (between your sprockets), you’ll find it stays pert smooth, and won’t fast-track wear on the teeth. Use those dropouts to your advantage, until you need to pop links.
