so i bought the 49mm cylinder.. big mistake! castings dont meet the sleeve or vice versa. would not run at all. transfer port ceilings were higher than the port openings, so i raised the openings to match and got it to run. no power whatsoever.. i have a new cylinder coming thanks to Amazons rental program (not an actual thing) so ill make a port map later when it shows up. just goes to show that bigger isnt always better.
 
I run a 49mm steel sleeve 2 stroke, thing runs like a scalded dog, yes it needed a lil bit of clean up work on the ports. But all these engines do. But it was not much. Now I did raise the cylinder 1.5-2.0mm & then milled the top of cylinder off to get my squish clearance back properly. I also honed the cylinder to set piston to cylinder wall clearance up a lil more, cause I run my HOT!!! I think you only get out of these lil engines what you put in them. Also I did no actual port work, just cleaned the ports up. I think they are 1 of the best cylinders out there for longevity. I also cut my cylinder head for the 49mm bore, so the squish band matched cylinder bore size.

There's no carnage, it still runs.. or did until my cdi finally fried.. but I'll agree with you getting out what you put in. I really only cleaned up the trash and raised the transfer openings to finally get it to run and I haven't messed with it since the cdi failed last week. New one should be here in a little bit. As far as opinions go on cylinders, everyone has one and I'm not saying yours is wrong at all, but my G4 got put thru hell and back until I decided I wasn't about to pedal 14 miles home and ran it on fuel only.. no oil.. I forgot to bring my little bottle along with my wallet.. was a sad day. Other than that I put a couple thousand miles on it, even after a small piece of the pin clip decided to break off and rip a couple nice size gouges in the piston and cylinder wall.. new piston and rings I was Rollin on down the Rd again.. lol I do have a pic of that one.. it's definitely seen better days.

I'm not sure who's cylinder your getting, but I'm kinda partial to CDH. They seem to be ok. Lmao if I was to install a fresh cylinder without any clean up work, im sure a guy would have a nightmare. With the cdh cylinder & raising it 1.5-2mm seems to help correct port timing, now I've never put a degree wheel to verify port timings, but mine sure runs good.
 
Hone your old 49mm cylinder out, & put a yd-100 50mm cdh piston in it.
 
The first pic was the clip failure, 2nd was no oil. 3rd was a totally different cylinder that got drilled for 32mm and I attempted to correct that.. it ran for about a week until it broke. Made it home with a couple hose clamps wrapped around it. I'm sure you can figure out which piston came from where, lol.

I'm surprised that ran that long without oil!!! Yeah your 1 cylinder looks like a BGF 49mm cylinder with the open transfer ports.
