Hey guys, have a question for all of you. Just to get a feeling for what I need, how should I run a 2 stroke kit after break in? What ratios do you guys think are the best? What has worked out so far for you guys? I hear some guys go 40:1 on break in and that sounds a bit dumb...

i did the break-in for 200 miles 24:1 then 32:1 ever since. runs still like new, cylinder looks great @850 miles,, but ppl say 40:1 is do-able, , tho i rather it last longer than the extra power you'd get

I recommend 6 qzs. in first gallon then drop to 4 ozs.. I think Steve Best refered to a study a while back that showed their is a point of diminishing returns to using less oil and it was around 32:1. While 40 or 50:1 with quality syn. oils may provide adequate lubrication for wear purposes it doesn't seal the rings as well as 32:1 so no power gain is noticed. I believe some was actually lost.

Gary, what is 6 qzs? Is that a Borg measurement? Bwahahahaha, I couldn't resist!

i ran 32:1 personally (before i took it off)
how i broke in my engine is, ran it 16:1 the first tank, 20:1 the second tank, and 25:1 the third tank.
then i ran it 32:1 there after.
the engine has about 1800 miles and it still runs great!

So some people think that 40:1 gives power? That's what I think I took away from this. If so, that sounds bonkers

That's how my fingers respond to my brain while waiting for the damn coffee maker to do it's thing, or pretty much the rest of the time as well.

Well, I'm running 32.1 and just blew a piston the spindle gear was trash the pin dented and I know I got problems in the crank case bad bearing been running it 32.1 for year and a half I'll be replacing the motor this week cuz it sounds bad yet it still runs.

So maybe 32.1 ain't good for it maybe 20.1 but when I do that I keep having oil seep out of the head so maybe 25.1 might be a good in-between. Not too rich and not too lean.
