Allen head bolt for small bevel gear

Found an issue with the bolt. The flange was a little too big to fit into the gear. Simple fix is to chuck it in a 3/8" drill and run a file over it. I sent BMW a message and he said he will check each one before sending them out. I'm very happy with it and didn't mind fixing it.
 
I have never seen these before.
They are crank bolts that have the black plastic snap on shield.
I have been using them for years.
Yes they need to be filed down a hair to fit inside the bevel gear.
There are hex crank bolts that fit too.
I have used fancy red anodized crank bolts.

I know what they are for since I am the person that started the thread. :cautious: I was replying to a question on other vendors that have them. Maybe you could shed some light.
 
oh anodized bolts in there would be kinda cool like if you had a clear clutch cover :unsure:

So I'm sorry about the last reply. Didn't realize you ment crank as in bicycle crank set bolts. Thought you were saying crankshaft bolt.
