That plug design your showing at Autozone as a racing plug was originally marketed many years ago as one of the original "fire in oil" spark plugs manufactured for the express purpose of enabling a cars engine to still run despite the fact that it had cylinders loading up with oil due to maintenance issues that the motor really needed to be repaired properly but usually wasn't...lol.The nice thing about spark plugs is that they are a relatively cheap consumable. The only time they aren't is when you get into specialty stuff built for high power, high chamber pressures in forced induction racing applications. NGK, Brisk, an Champion all make side electrode plugs for this, and they range from $35 a piece (Brisk) to $99 a piece (some NGK or Champions). Imagine doing that x8, and on a regular basis.

Back in the late 70s they usually sold for $2.99...lol...lol...Now all you gotta do to get big bucks for it is to call it a "Racing" plug and you can get 70 bucks for one...lol...lol.
