I am getting back to my bike after my dog died about a month and a half ago. I'm wondering about my chainline coming to the wheel from the jackshaft. The bike originally was a hybrid and had 700 wheels and I don't know if I'm going to be able to fit this 26 coaster wheel. Perhaps have to heat and bend the chainstays a bit more. I already bent them a bit inwards to fit the hub as the bike originally had a 7 speed cassette and was to wide for the hub. The rims 28mm wide and I would like to what the thinnest tire anyone has successfully used on a coaster brake wheel. Any advice, criticism, or encouraging words would be appreciated.
Any advice for a first time building a gas powered bicycles.

Put simply a more accurate description would be coaster break instead of coaster brake. Most here don't like a coaster brake.
Narrow tires are great on a very lite weight racing road bicycle; lower rolling resistance. They aren't so great on heavier frames along with the weight of an engine/fuel tank; you'll feel every bump in the road.

Get Kevlar puncture proof tires, tube liners, and slime filled tubes. This wills save alot of headache down the road
These are the tires and tubes that I am running on my bike...Kevlar tires, 26x1.75 and extra thick Slime filled tubes.
Despite what it says on the tires, Do Not inflate more than 38 to 40 PSI cold inflation...It you do, going at motorised bike speeds, you risk heat expansion tire failure as well as it riding like a buckboard wagon...This inflation will give it just enough give to ride comfortably.
