I got this Western Flyer bike with a "H" engine on it a while back. It's been restored and I want to get it operational. I would like to know
what year it is also. The serial number under the BB is A 12354 ACw. I think that means it is a CWC/AMF frame. The rear drop outs are the pre war style. Don't know if that is relevent or not. It was supposedly restored about twenty years ago. It's been a living room museum piece for a while. It doesn't look like it has been run since the restoration.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We have a few Whizzer "Wizards" here in the forums who can probably tell you a lot about your bike, @Wrench, @mason_man, and @Risk Man

CWC kept good serial number records and their bicycles are easily identified
The ACw at the end of the serial number dates the frame to 1949-51 The Frame was made by CWC

AMF bought CWC in April of 1951 - AMF didn't keep serial number records
To date an AMF bicycle you need to look at an old AMF bicycle catalog
AMF dated their bikes with a letter before the serial number, The letter will tell the year made
AMF Serial number is on the rear dropout

Thank you wrench. I only have two older bikes. They both have "H" motor kits on them. he other looks to be a Snyder build "Hiawatha" for M/W. It is a '47 I think. I'm putting it together now for my first ride. Looking forward to it.
