Anyone Have a Spare Ambassador Fork Plate?

well, it's official. I. am. an. idiot. at the very least, absent minded (extremely).

I got the entire Ambassador front end to put on my NE-5 so I could have disc brakes. It came with everything and I took the UPPER fork plate off to make sure I knew how to disassemble the old fork and put on the new. And now I cannot find it anywhere. I have torn my house apart. It's heavy, it's shiny, it's chrome ... and it's freakin' GONE. The last thing I can remember was that it was with all the other parts on my bar in my garage. And that was a week ago!!! I've only had it for 2 and 1/2 weeks! And I've already lost it!!

Well, it looks like I will be calling Whizzer on Monday to order a replacement (I hope they have one in stock for me). It sucks because we have a ride coming up in SF on Tuesday. I do not want to put the NE-5 front end back on when I am this close to being done.

Anyway, if anyone has one lying around (like that is gonna happen), I would pay well!!

Oh yeah, what oil do we use in the forks (in case I need to reuse my old forks -- I spilled it when I took the old front end off).

Your not alone at being an idiot. I spent 10 minutes looking for a phone that I was actually talking on at the time. I was getting all the info my old work phone put onto my new phone. I thought I was using my personal cell phone but alas I was just stupid.

You know, I don't mind being stupid (I'm used to that ... lol). What irks me so much is that this happened Friday night and I cannot even order the part until Monday and then it has to come all the way from Texas. And I have a four day weekend and the weather is perfect. It sucks because when the plate arrives, I probably won't have anymore time to work on it.

Heh . . . if you're like me you'll find the lost plate right after you install the new one.

Murphy sits on my left shoulder 24/7. He doesn't have wings so he's no angel. Whenever I talk to him he won't answer but sometimes will at least chuckle.

well, it has been shipped by Whizzer, but won't get here until Friday ; ( . It's the "triple tree" (they listed it as upper fork plate on the Whizzer website and even Whizzer didn't know what I was talking about when I called this morning... lol ...). I don't know how I could lose something so big and heavy?

yeah, I have no idea where it is. and, yes, I did look behind the fridge (lol).

I am so looking forward to having front disc brakes. will be a lot safer for me driving around town. when I get everything together I will post some pics of my upgrades. -- rob
