I have an early '50s VeloSolex, made in France. I had to fabricate some parts to make the front brake work, but I have it running. Or at least I did. While out on a ride on a fairly smooth road, the rear wheel just collapsed. Turns out these bikes, or cyclomoteurs, as the French call them, are only designed for riders up to 165 pounds, and I an close to 250. It might seem easy to get a stronger wheel, but these wheels are an odd size. They are actually metric, but measure 23" in American measurments. In did find a replacement wheel from a place online, but it is a new reproduction, and I have heard they are of much lower quality than the original. Any ideas?
