Anyone Using Moped Tires and Rims?

I scored a new 1.4" X 18" moped rim on ebay for $28 shipped.

I intend to lace my Sturmey-Archer 8-speed hub onto it, using 11g spokes.

Hopefully, a 2.75-18 tire fits my bike.
It should be 23.5" D, the same as my 19" front tire.

Minimum clearance on my rear frame stays is 98mm(3.86").

Maximum tire size which fit with centered spokes' layout is 3.0-18 and 11mm(.43") clearance on each side.

With a 2.75-18 tire and centered wheel, clearance is 14mm(.55") on each side.

With a 2.5" tire, there's .68" clearance.

With a 2.25", there's .80" clearance each side.

I'm leaning towards using a 2.75-18 rear tire.

In the front, I'm using a 26" suspension fork and a 2.125" x 26 tire.

So a 2.25-19 moped tire and 1.2" moped wheel should fit with good clearance.

Both tires should be 23.5" diameter.

I bought two 1.4x18" rims and a 2.50-18 tire.
Still looking for another tire.

The rear will lace to an SA 8-speed hub with drum brake.

The front wheel will lace to a Sturmey hub with 90mm drum brake.

Tire diameter decreases from 26" to 23", about 1.5",

If the side of the tire doesn't clear the v-brake bosses, I might have to use a 24" fork.

As a previous VeloSoleX owner, you should note the wheels you were previously considering are only 28 spokes, and the rims are really bad, just formed U channel with chrome finish.

These are aftermarket rims with 36 spoke holes.

I just bought a used Sturmey Archer 90mm front drum hub for $48 shipped.

Now comes the task of lacing spokes.
