Yep alot of parts are made in Germany, Taiwan, Japan, Italy, Mexico
Also sadly the Kansas HD factory closed and moved to Thailand to make the new Sportster
"Overall, Harley-Davidson remains an American company, having weathered over a century of shifts in the global market. Despite outsourcing parts and production, its commitment to U.S. assembly underscores its enduring American identity."

Assembled in the USA...lol...Might as well just say that everything on the bike for the most part is foreign made.

I always see labels like "Assembled in Mexico" or "Assembled in Honduras" etc. etc. etc.

Translation of that to me is nothing more than saying the parts were made elsewhere because the country it is assembled in is a third world country not capable of anything more than assembling the parts together and shoving it out the door.

If I were to ever buy a bike again in this lifetime, it would never be a Harley because what they used to stand for no longer exists and really hasn't since the days when AMF first bought them out and started the downward spiral of a legendary, American made, world class motorcycle.

I had a friend point out some years ago made me aware that Honda Japanese owned has models that are more American made than HD is. Some models, Honda makes the parts here and assembles them here.

The world is changing. HD needs to make a profit or die a slow death. HD will always be considered an American icon. Is any car or bike truly Japanese anymore? I still consider the big 4 Japanese bike/car co's to be Japanese. I don't get how HD can MSRP their top bike models close to $40k though. I'd buy me a new Tacoma for that.

Jay Leno said something like this in one of his videos: Why is it that an American manufacturer can build a vehicle here and in many cases the vehicle has some reliability issues, and Toyota can come here and build a vehicle that is one hundred percent reliable?

Even Toyota and Honda have had engine, and tranny issues the last 20 years or so. I'd still put my money on a Toyota over a Chevy nowadays for reliability. Nissan I wouldn't touch unless you gave it to me. Same with Ford FWD cars, Mustang is RWD.
