Belt drive on a huasheng dinging and catching at idle

I'm not real familiar with those engines but know how clutches react in go-carts. Does the bell hang up on the shoes when you put it on?
no, the bell can spin without touching the clutch normally, i think the bushing needs lubing because its sitting on the crankshaft and ive heard people need to soak them monthly in motor oil

Only an Oilite bearing will soak up oil

You clutch just has a brass or bronze bushing so all's ya can do is oil or grease that
Soaking over night or boiling the oil won't make a difference

I've cut a hole in the plastic belt cover so I can easily oil the bushing with a drop of 3-in-1 oil.

I think I know what might be causing the clicking and ringing noise you decribed. I had the same issue. Take the cover off. Jack up the bike and spin the rear tire by hand. Watch everything turn in the transmission and pay attention to the black outer ring on the large pulley. Mine would periodically touch the edge of the clutch bell creating that ringing sound. If so, take the pulley off and grab the black ring with some vise grips. Twist it back and forth and it will pull right off. Now do it to the ring on the back side also. Problem solved! You don't need them. The tension on the belt will force it to run straight down the center of the pulley.
