Belt drive

Ok thank you all for the help
The belt drive is a really good setup if you take the time to set the bike up right for a belt drive they are great & will last a long time. That's basically a timing belt for a engine, that's why it's got teeth on the belt. These belt drives get bad reviews because nobody spends the time to set there bike up properly. Then they get mad cause it rips the teeth off a brand new belt because it's not tensioned tight enough.

Seeing as the belt you have is too long and you'll never use it, I would just cut it. Then you will be able to overlap the ends and see just how much too long it is. Make a mark where it should be and it will be really easy to measure the new required length. Be sure your tensioner is adjusted to the position it will run at when you measure. I like you belt drive a lot. No noise and no oil flying everywhere.
