Best frame mounted mill?

I like frame mounted engines, mainly 'cause the look like motorcycles. I know the rack systems out there are far better from an engineering/quality/reliability standpoint, but is there a frame mounted engine built by the Americans, Germans, French, Japanese, or anybody that will last? Happy Time engines are fun, and I love them, but going more than a few miles from the house requires a backup plan. They are what they are.

There are Staton kits made to incorporate frame mount and gear shifting from the rear freewheel but they look kinda difficult to install and require a chopper bike.
