Update: Looks like the clutch fix took!

Unfortunately the seller somehow got an axle on the rear that's too big to be slid out of the frame so I can't take it off to check it. Add disk brake to front?

Could you be more clear. Are you saying you can't take the rear wheel off the bike?

You have to have the specific wrench to remove your gear set before that axle will come out.
