L Large Filipino Guest Jun 21, 2008 #3 The best tire for commuting is the tire that does not lose any air LOL!!!
A alex Guest Jun 21, 2008 #4 For just putting around town, definitely the road tire. Slicks and knobbies are too dangerous for around here, where I routinely find myself caught in a rain storm.

Those knobbies on the mtb tires just add rolling resistance on smooth roads. Sheldon Brown has a good web page on tire traction, pressure, and tread. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/tires.html
