Get a nice multi-speed cruiser, incase you have to pedal, and a suspension fork and you'll have the best of all worlds.

I put an internally geared hub on the rear, a nice suspension fork on the front and a straight bar for a mountain bike on my beach cruiser. I call it my mountain cruiser.
