Better braking system?

About disc brakes...the front fork on my bike has a bracket for disc brakes, but that is all I have. Do the disc brakes attach to a normal hub, or do you have to change to a disc brake hub? I've looked around on the net but have not found any info on them.

Steve: You'll have to get a disc brake specific hub or wheel.

Thanks, that's what I figured. I don't want to spend any more money on this thing at this time. I'm not satisfied with it so far so it may not stay around here.
