So I haven't done gas bikes since sometime during covid. Gave away my last bike a few months ago then gave the same guy an engine I found new in the box amongst model t parts.

Watching him have fun with it made me wanna build another so I just pulled the trigger on a bicycle-engines.com im70 right now and a gas bike frame from them. Should be interesting but I doubt I'll be porting cylinders and cases like I was doing before. Gotta wait for it to show up now

When you get it, check the piston to cylinder wall clearance. You need proper tolerances beithe bore is iron and the piston is aluminum. They tend to soft seize. If it's tight a hone will take care if it. It shibe decently powerful out of the box but there's always room for improvement. If it were me I'd just clean the castings and such and polish the exhaust along with a port match. Also wash the bottom end out with some premix, there is most likely gonna be aluminum shavings from the factory in it

Good luck! These things are fun lol.

What's a good piston clearance for an iron bore motor?

Ive done these things in all different forms. Had a 48cc that only did like 30 but got about 150 mpg, had about 3k miles when the bike frame broke and I swapped it to the bike its on now. Had a few 66ccs they were a blast to port cause I could get an entire engine for like 25 bucks when you f***ed up

@ImpulseRocket probably knows a good clearance off the top if his head. I haven't built any iron bores yet so I honestly haven't looked into it. I just know it's a good thing to check

It's a minarelli cylinder so it should be the same as the minarelli exhaust.
I wasnt sure cause the minarelli flange has a cut out for one bolt hole. If i try to put a pipe oh it ill just buy gaskets first to check thanks

And I will also be 70 this month too...lol...lol...We are now both certified to fart dust at our age, but our age doesn't stop us from enjoying our motorised bikes as we are still "Toys-R-Us kids...lol.

Here is what I built and still ride these last 5 years if it gives you any ideas at all, It is built on just the frame of a 148 dollar Hyper beach cruiser bike and everything else but the motor, frame, and handlebars is custom...lol.

The motor is from bicycle-engines.com
