Bike to mount a predator 212?

Yea, I went ahead and ordered some. Coming from China, so might be a couple weeks until I see them. Couldn't find any others the right size in the states. I also ordered some shaft collars. These are DEFINITELY strong enough, but might be a bit more challenging to mount a plate to. I'll play around and see what I can come up with.

So, you don't have an angle grinder and a vise?

What did I say that makes you think that?
You ordered clamps from China and want to wait ever how long it takes for them to arrive. They are simple enough to make from a bit of exhaust pipe that you can get (probably free) at your local muffler shop. Automotive exhaust pipe will be heavier than any clamp you buy too.

Show me an example of such a clamp that you have made from a scrap piece of exhaust pipe.

Start with a short section, slip it down the side, mark it where the bends are and squeeze it together. Drill a hole to bolt it together, make it a little undersized so it's tight when done. This took me 5 minutes, just needs a hole and trim off the excess. You don't even need a vise really, a big crescent wrench will work for the bends.

The bolt to hold it together will be the expensive part, 65¢.
Around what diameter pipe do you use to achieve a clamp for a 1 1/2 post? I'm guessing you'd need at least 2"-2.5" by the time you flatten out a surface for the bolt.

Is your down tube 1 1/2"? Probably need a 2 1/2 pipe, but the bigger pipes have thicker sidewalls, thus a bit harder to bend. They also make a better clamp and stronger, less likely to bend on you.

I used one of the heavier pipes to make oarlocks for my little tender.
