Back after maybe 8 years or so.
I've got a J/300 Whizzer engine that needs work. Took it out for a rip around the San Juan Islands on the warmest day of the year last summer. Rode about 10 miles at 30-40 mph and seized the piston. Would unseize when cooled off, but would seize again after a minute of riding. Pushed it back to the ferry sweating like a pig and put it in the corner of the garage. Finally took it apart. Broke off the oil splasher, connector crank bushings shot, worn wrist pin bushing, a little wear on the piston and sleeve, but might be alright.

Who still does work on vintage whizzers and has parts? I probably just need a new connecting rod and to have the other stuff rebuilt. Unfortunately I think my cylinder is bored out to the largest oversized piston size so it might be on its last resize before needing to be sleeved. Would be stoked to upgrade to a needle bearing crank, but I don't think they pop up anymore.
I've got old numbers written down for David Reese, Fred White so gonna try them, but figured I'd hop back in and ask around.

Dave and Fred White have long since passed.
