Hey there...:) So we're going to do this one properly..!

Originally, I was going to go with a dedicated board track racer, but this idea became a little too cost prohibitive. With the frames at around $350 USD, that would be almost $500 by the time it got to Oz. And that's not even with the tank. In reality I was probably looking at around $1k AUD just in the frame..!So what I've decided on now is a hybrid street/board track. GT-5 frame with double springer front end, board track style bars and seat set up. Best of both worlds..!

The idea is to have quality parts and running gear throughout, sourced from both bike and motorcycle brands. This thing will be fast so it has to be safe as well - plus it's not exactly legal to be riding these things on the street where I come from. It will be built around a Fred's Superhammer that I got customised with a 6cc decomp head, 17mm Delorto style PHBG carb, and RM80 exhaust. I live in a flat coastal area at sea level, so it will be turning a 30 or 32T sprocket - see how we go. Thinking of a dark frame colour (gunmetal grey??) that will be offset with anodised gold running gear and parts.

Anyway, here's a list of parts and specs with some photos of goodies I've been sourcing for a few months now. The frame is still around 2 weeks away but the hold up will be the forks. Anyone know where else apart from Bicycle Designer I can source Cuda Double Springer forks from..??!

Cheers
Crisco:)

I see what you mean about the rear fork slamming the fender, if I had time (and I kinda do sometimes) I would try to make a 2 part fender just for the hell of it, I found this picture of a nice moped and thought the fenders could be worth recreating. View attachment 77931

Ive seen some get away with full fenders with braces but the fender actually mounts to the moveable part of the fork itself. personally Ive been leaning towards just running a rear fender and forgoing the front fender.

personally Ive been looking at getting these if they will work.

I've been forgoing my front fender as well for basically forever on my personal ride, and had plenty of opportunities to sit down with a sheet of copper and bang one out and the tons of extra fasteners laying around would match up one way or another.

Maybe my deep conscience saying not to install one with all the horror stories about them breaking teeth and faces lol..

Yep, id love to do full fenders and not mini fenders but my big problem is you have fender support struts and I know of no way of really mounting them on this frame. I would have to look more into it.

Quality hose clamps and glossy black spray paint?
lol I could do that but I think I will just go with some duck tail shorty fenders. Just cant decide black or chrome. I am leaning more towards chrome as I think it would accent the red bike and black trim more than having black fenders.

Use whatever spacers you need to attach the second fork at the top, just remember you want those two connecting plates level.

Thanks mate... I was looking at those plates wondering how they should be aligned. When you think about it, they need to be flat to allow for maximum movement...

Don't forget to change the bushings around when you put her on.View media item 60781

Yeah okay.... to stop it slamming back down on the bracket during return travel. Looks like this might ease the tension too. Mine seem super stiff compared to any of my other shocks, although I won't really be able to tell until they're mounted.

Yep, also smart to install the upper headset cone under the upper springer mount as without it, it leaves the bearing open for dust/dirt/moisture to get in. I don't like the look but that's how I have to do mine. Hopefully my linkage is all level I never checked it. I just assembled it dry and loosely cut the tube where it needed to be with my threadless stem.

Jut grab some sealed headset bearings..??

I keep seeing these forks and getting really interested in buying them, but do they fit a 27.5 inch tire? Those looks like almost 3 inch wide 26ers and just able to fit under the fender.. Without one would that work?

Check this thread out... It's old but covers alot of ground.. so to speak:p

Mmmmmm... Shiny things... Nice little vel stock for my carb from Treatland.

They have some cool gear at that Treatland store, and really good with their shipping. I think I'm sold on of this Puch Side Bleed Estoril exhaust.

I was going to go with a KX80 full exhaust that I had, but the Puch is so much sexier... and not second hand..! Either way was going to take some modding and header length testing, so I may as well go with the Puch. You know what they say..?? Shiny is better any day..! Well actually.... I don't know who the hell says that, but it seems like a good philosophy to me..!!:)
